Thanksgiving is two weeks away and while many people may be dreaming of stuffing, cranberry sauce, turkey, or candied yams, we’re thinking about dessert.
Every Thanksgiving, though, we find ourselves tempted by the pumpkin pie but still yearning for our one true love, chocolate.
This year, however, we have found a solution: chocolate pumpkin pie. Seconds please!
Chocolate Pumpkin Pie
What you will need:
-4 oz semi-sweet chocolate
-12 oz softened cream cheese
-1 cup canned pumpkin
-1.5 cups sugar
-1 cup sour cream
1. Melt the butter in simmering water. Add the chocolate, melt, and then whisk until smooth. Set aside to partially cool the chocolate.
2. Using an electric mixer, beat the cream cheese while slowly adding the sugar, followed by the eggs, pumpkin, vanilla, and spices until the filling is even. Pour about half of the filling in another bowl and stir in the melted chocolate. Pour the chocolate filling into the pie shell. Bake the pie at 350 degrees for 20 minutes and then let it cool for 15 minutes.
3. Pour the remaining pumpkin filling over the chocolate layer. Bake for another 35 to 40 minutes. Let cool for 45 minutes.
4. Combine sour cream and 1/4 cup of sugar in a saucepan. Stir over low heat for 2 minutes. Pour mixture over top of the pie. Let pie cool and chill at least 4 hours before serving.
5. Dig in!
